“It was devastating,” recalls Jocelyn Herold of hearing her puppy’s cries from a home camera. Luna, her sweet merle chihuahua had jumped off the staircase, from about 6 feet up. “I wasn’t home, but had the camera on. I was panicking and crying and had a neighbor go and check on her.”
X-rays later confirmed that Luna had a broken femur. A friend recommended Joceylyn take Luna to see Dr. Arulpragasm, Advanced Veterinary Care Center’s Director of Surgery and Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon in Davie. “My friend told us he wouldn’t trust anyone else, but Dr. A.” adds Jocelyn, who was willing to make the drive from North Miami.
Jocelyn’s partner Ryan met with Dr. Arulpragasm. “He said she was so professional, super nice and calming.” Just two days later, Luna underwent surgery for fracture repair.
“Everyone at AVCC is very professional and they give you piece of mind when you need it the most. I must have called them 100 times with questions,” she adds. “They are super helpful in explaining and calming me down. They kept sending me updates and pictures and they walked me through the steps like I was there. I knew she was well taken care of!”
Luna Bounces Back
Today, Luna is fully healed and doing great! “She definitely is back to her playful self, running and jumping and playing with other dogs. She is full throttle. The neighbors are amazed how quickly she recovered,” says Joycelyn.
