New State-of-the-Art CT Scanner Comes to AVCC

CT Scanning Now Available 7 Days a Week

 

In our pledge to continue to provide the highest standard of care to our veterinary patients, Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Davie has acquired a new state-of-the-art 32 slice CT scanner. “This will expand the quality of care that we provide in a few significant ways,” says AVCC Co-Medical Director, Dr. Jeff Toll.

The benefits to pet patients include:

 

1. Less Need for General Anesthesia

The unit is extremely fast, completing an exam in a fraction of the time it previously took. Therefore, most CT scans can be completed in just a few minutes using sedation rather than general anesthesia. “This is a tremendous advantage in fragile cases such as trauma patients,” adds Dr. Toll.

2. Extremely High Resolution

Images are extremely high resolution and the software provides detailed 3D reconstruction.  This allows more accurate assessment of sick and injured patients, as well as more accurate guidance for sample collection and surgical planning.

3. Available 7 Days Per Week
The operating system is relatively simple and easy to learn, allowing us to have a larger team of technicians trained to operate the CT. This will allow AVCC to offer CT scans 7 days a week.
