Sindy Piscoya DVM, DACVIM (O)
Director of The Cancer Center at AVCCDr. Sindy Piscoya is originally from Lima, Peru and grew up in Queens, New York. She graduated from Stony Brook University where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in health sciences and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Following graduation, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts. The loss of her beloved Scottish terrier to lymphoma drove her to specialize in medical oncology. She completed a specialty oncology internship at Georgia Veterinary Specialists in Sandy Springs, Georgia followed by her medical oncology residency at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Prior to joining Advanced Veterinary Care Center, Dr. Piscoya practiced in Texas and Washington.
Her special professional interests include hematopoietic malignancies, oncological clinical pathology, mast cell tumors, and all aspects of palliative care. Her main goal is to teach her clients about the diagnosis of their pets and provide treatment options acting as an advocate to ensure they receive the best health care possible. Dr. Piscoya is also Fear-Free Certified – having completed courses on how to eliminate fear, anxiety, and stress for happier patients and a safer veterinary environment.
Dr. Piscoya is a proud owner of three amazing cats (Remy, Luna and Mitri). In her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies, baking and traveling to different parts of the world with her husband.
